One other thrilling documentary aired earlier this month, and that I watched final week, is Seaspiracy. A documentary produced and narrated by Ali Tabrizi. His documentary takes us on a worldwide journey which seeks to uncover the reality concerning the decimation of our oceans. The documetary covers points surrounding plastic air pollution, overfishing, sustainable fishing, backside trawling, whaling, slave labour, and corruption. That is one other concern that I’m extraordinarily keen about as an educator, and I imagine that’s important that we share such documentaries with our younger learners, to allow them to discover ways to be extra sustainable to make sure the longeviety of our planet.
I’ve created a worksheet to accompany the movie to be used with my Social Research lessons. I intend to make use of this with:
- Grade 7 – they’ve been collaborating within the Canadian Geographic ‘Power Weight loss plan Problem.’ They’ve been studying about the right way to scale back their water, meals, power and plastic consumption.
- Grade 8 – they’ve been investigating the ocean as a theme for his or her unit on Geographical Expertise.
- Grade 11/12 – as a part of their IB Ocean Environments course.
There are many different hyperlinks to a wide range of Social Research curriculums.
